Karla Diaz
Rector
Karla was born in Nicaragua and raised in the sunshine state of Florida. Karla served for eight years in different ministries in her local parish, Saint John Bosco Catholic Church. During this time of service, Karla fell in love with serving others and became interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Theology. She graduated from Barry University with a theology degree. At Barry, Karla worked as a clerical assistant in Campus Ministry and co-founded the university's Dominican Young Adults chapter. Before entering her graduate studies, Karla worked for the Archdiocese of Miami. In May 2022, Karla graduated with a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame. During her time at Notre Dame, Karla served as a co-leader in Saint Adalbert Catholic Church’s RCIA program for Spanish speakers. She assisted the Director of the Hispanic Ministry in the Fort Wayne-South Bend dioceses. Karla also served as a sacristan in the Malloy chapel, worked as an online course assistant for the Camino program, and as an Assistant Rector in Cavanaugh Hall. Karla enjoys watching Kdramas, 90’s rom-com movies, and listening to 90’s Hip-pop, and R&B music. She enjoys a good burger, sharing life with the Lyons residents, and a good laugh.
Grace Cala

Grace has spent the majority of her life in Alabama and Connecticut. She graduated from Cornell University, double-majoring in Psychology and Science and Technology Studies where she was also a Resident Advisor. Faith, college football, and trying new foods are some of Grace's passions in addition to being a 2L at Notre Dame Law School. Grace is excited to bring her residential life experience to part of the Lyons community and looks forward to connecting with each lovely Lyonite!

Hello Lyonites! I'm Aileen and I'm from San Diego, CA. I graduated from Brown with a degree in history and am currently a 3L at the Law School interested in corporate law. I'm so excited to be returning to Lyons as an AR and am looking forward to another amazing year here! I enjoy going to Salsa's, blasting Taylor Swift in my car, and reading about food anthropology. I'm looking forward to another great year of getting to know everybody and making fun memories!

I'm an Accounting major with a minor in Theology and am in the Business Honors Program. I'm originally from a small town in the middle of nowhere Illinois called Effingham! I love Football Saturdays, game nights, going for walks around the lakes, baking, drawing, singing and working out. Stop by if you ever want to watch college football, a cooking show or Star Wars!
I am studying theology, business economics, and Italian and I am from the Central Valley of California. I am thrilled to be the first floor RA next year in the lovely building I have called home for the past three years. I love writing letters, going on rosary walks around the lakes, and participating in any activity that involves competition. I am looking forward to meeting all the new Lyonites and baking for section socials!
Hi there! My name is Sarah, and I am from Seattle, Washington. I love hiking and miss the mountains from home. I enjoy running and finished my first marathon in November in Athens with my roommate from Lyons! You can usually find me studying in the ACE building or the German department. I studied in Germany after my first-year then worked in Nairobi, Kenya after my sophomore year. This photo is from my semester in Heidelberg, and I just finished working at a nonprofit there! I am super excited to an RA in Lyons! <3

Hi everyone! I am from Millburn, NJ, and I am majoring in biology with a supplementary major in French. This past semester I had the chance to study abroad in Angers, France, but I am super excited to return to my home on campus! On campus I help out at the pre-school ECDC, work at the IDEA Center, and I am part of the club Design for America. I also love to cook, bake, read, and go for long walks around the lakes listening to Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, Ed Sheeran, and Disney soundtracks. I can't wait to meet you all! I am so excited for the upcoming year :)
I’m a Chemistry and Italian Studies double major from St. Louis, MO (the best city EVER)! When I’m not living in the best dorm on campus, you can find me doing research in the Smith Lab working on the synthesis of cancer prodrugs or in the basement of South Dining Hall working in the Observer office as graphics editor. Some amazing experiences ND has given me have been to study abroad for chemistry research in Milan during the summer of 2023 and present my research at academic conferences! In my free time, I love cooking or anything music related! So excited for our year together!
Hello!!! My name is Viana and I am so excited to be the RA of the Lyons penthouse! I am the oldest of five girls so living in Lyons feels quite similar to my life at home. I love to get meals with friends, curl up with a good book and cup of coffee, and spend time in our beautiful chapel. My absolute favorite thing is spending time with people, whether this be watching a movie together or walking around campus with a friend in (almost) any weather condition. I can’t wait for our adventures together this year! Lyons Love :)
